- In addition to his awesome home run power,
- Babe Ruth was an outstanding pitcher. From
- 1914 through 1920, he pitched for the Red
- Sox and the Yankees. When Babe pitched for
- Boston, he was one of the best lefthanders
- in the American League. His lifetime record
- was 94 wins and 46 losses! In 1916, he led
- the league with a 1.75 earned run average,
- leading the Red Sox to a world champion-
- ship. Two years later, Babe led the Red Sox
- to another World Series title. In World
- Series play, BabeΓÇÖs ERA was 0.87 -- a
- record that still stands.

- Babe started playing in the outfield in 1918,
- and was moved there permanently in 1920.
- He pitched five more games before he retired
- in 1935. He won all five.
